TOM HOPPER & RYAN KWANTEN IN 'NORTHMEN THE VIKING SAGA' EPIC! NICOLE KIDMAN IS 'QUEEN OF THE DESERT' WITH JAMES FRANCO, ROBERT PATTINSON! MAGGIE SMITH, KEVIN CLINE IN 'MY OLD LADY'! RYAN KWANTEN IN 'THE RIGHT KIND OF WRONG'

TOM HOPPER, RYAN KWANTEN
NORTHMEN A VIKING SAGA
Since you know that your trusted HOLLYWOOD SPY is one of web's leading places for all movies and shows historical, here's something exciting coming from the genre: "Deadline" reports that the cast of upcoming Viking epic adventure NORTHMEN - A VIKING SAGA has just been hunkyfied to extreme extent to the delight of my ladies :) Brilliant British hunk Tom Hopper, the muscly knight of the round table from MERLIN show (whom you will also watch next January at Starz in new pirate show BLACK SAILS), has joined the cast which already included the Australian hunkster Ryan Kwanten from TRUE BLOOD, and Charlie Murphy, HOBBIT's Graham McTavish and GAME OF THRONE's Ed Skrein! This epic saga, which I mentioned for the first time earlier this March, will follow Viking leader Asbjörn, stranded behind enemy lines on the coast of Alba with his band of Vikings. Their only chance of survival is to find a path to the Viking settlement, Danelag, traversing an unfamiliar and hostile land. The journey becomes a race for their lives when the King of Alba sends his most feared mercenaries after them. But when the Vikings meet a
Christian Monk who also preaches with his sword, the hunters become the hunted as the Vikings set deadly traps, mercilessly decimating their pursuers one by one, culminating in a final and deadly encounter.

RYAN KWANTEN IS ALSO
THE RIGHT KIND OF WRONG
Speaking of Ryan Kwanten, he has also joined THE RIGHT KIND OF WRONG playing Leo Palamino a failed writer turned dishwasher made famous for his many flaws and shortcomings in a blog called “Why You Suck,” a huge Internet success written by his ex-wife. Then Leo meets Colette (Sara Canning), the girl of his dream on the day she is marrying the perfect man. And so, the ultimate underdog story begins as Leo, a fearless dreamer, risks all to show Colette and the whole wide world all that is right with a man famous for being wrong.
MAGGIE SMITH IS 'MY OLD LADY'
Deadline reports that Kristin Scott Thomas has joined Maggie Smith and Kevin Kline in MY OLD LADY in which Kline plays a down-and-out New Yorker who travels to Paris to liquidate a huge apartment he’s inherited. But when he gets there, he learns he can’t take possession until the old woman who’s living in the apartment dies. Scott Thomas will play Chloe, daughter of Smith’s Mathilde character.

NICOLE KIDMAN IS
QUEEN OF THE DESERT
And as if the extremely bad criticism on her new movie on late princess DIANA wasn't bad enough, Naomi Watts has lost a gig on top of that: her best friend Nicole Kidman (who also has a biopic on her own this year - on GRACE OF MONACO), has taken over her role in QUEEN OF THE DESERT! Werner Herzog's biopic on Gertrude Bell, also starring James Franco and Robert Pattinson (instead of brilliant Jude Law),  is a story about the female explorer, writer, archaeologist and attaché for the British Empire, who is credited with helping to catalyse the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th Century! The female version of Lawrence of Arabia should start shooting next year in Morocco. I guess this means that Herzog has managed to beat Ridley Scott in the race to make a film about Bell, since Scott also wanted to do it but with Angelina Jolie in the lead role.

  2. Count me in for Queen of the Desert. I probably would have watched it with Naomi Watts or Angelina Jolie, but Nicole Kidman makes it a must-see for me. Yowza.

    1. ooh, I didn't know you're a huge fan of Kidman :) I generally like her choice of roles, but don't think she is always the right person for the roles she gets. I do like her independence from Hollywood.

And I love the set up for "My Old Lady." Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas will have lots of great subtext in those meaningful looks of theirs. :)

  8. Ryan is oh so sexy. Not particularly interested in the movies though.

Oh the infamous Werner Herzog! He can be a bit of a nutter, but you can't say he's boring:)

So glad to see that he beat Scott to the punch though as he wants to cast that horrid monster whose name I can't bring myself to utter in the part.

Tomorrow is my birthday darling. I hope you have some semi naked men on slate for me!!

    1. Yep, Herzog is a very unusual moviemaker. Both of them have unlikable casting choices, but I can't say I'm interested in a movie about a British diplomat who was nosing around a place where she had no business of her own...

Did you hear that Angelina is getting an Oscar next year for her "humanitarian" work? /vomitssecretly/

I shall find you one and stick it at Facebook :)

    2. Jesus Christ, the world's gone mad. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though as we're talking about a country that bombs people and calls it "humanitarian aid"

With this kind of logic, George W. Bush should be getting a Nobel Peace Prize:)

    3. and a president which gets Nobel peace prize for destroying other countries and smearing the world with blood :(
And Hilary Clinton and Madlen Albright should get Nobel Peace Prize with that logic, dear

    4. Hilary is the secret lovechild of Madlen Albright and George Bush Sr.;0)

I just watched Monkey Boy's speech whilst drinking a glass of very fine Russian vodka. The acting was horrid, but as a tragic farce, it worked pretty well:)
