HOLLYWOOD SPY EXCLUSIVE FASHION REPORT FROM 2013 OSCARS RED CARPET! THE BEST AND THE WORST DRESSED CELEBS! WHAT WAS IN THE SWAG BAGS?

So, my dear freaks, did you watch the 85th Academy Awards last night? How did you like the winners? Were you disappointed with the losers? How did you like Seth MacFarlane as the host? How did you like special tributes to famous musicals? And more importantly how did you like the fashion this year? You can read more about the winners here, and check out HOLLYWOOD SPY's fashion report from Oscars 2013 red carpet below! I'm only happy that BRAVE won Best Animated Film Oscar, it was such a delightful and heart warming movie!
As you know each Oscar nominee gets a lavish goodie bag every year. The gift bags are prepared by a special agency and it is no secret that the makers of the products found in the bags pay large sums so that their things would become presents for celebrities! THR reports that this year each bag is worth stunning $45,000 and it includes tones of various things - from lavish items such as a trip to Australia and $5,000 face-lift gift certificate to some cheap items such as self-help books, hair ties, maple syrup and a six pack of condoms :)

  THE BEST DRESSED
If you ask me, the absolute belle of the evening was lovely Lily Collins in stunning elven blue lace dress, but she wore that at a party after the Oscars. She wore something similar in blue at last year's premiere of MIRROR MIRROR. Naomi Watts also looked stunning in silver
asymmetrical Armani,  Amy Adams was a fairy tale princess in her lavish gown, while Alicia Wikander and Jennifer Hudson chose profound shades of blue colour and looked refined and noble at the same time.
I did maybe expect a bit more from Catherine Zeta Jones, but it was so lovely seeing her smiling again at the red carpet. I've no idea who Christin Chenoweth is, but she also looked nice, and Stacy Keibler was looking lovely again just like last year when she was best dressed!

  THE WHITE SWANS
Three ladies who opted for white looked like winter queens: I wished Charlize Theron's dress was cut a bit higher. Zoe Saldana was sweet in her white gown with dark elements. I didn't really like Jennifer Lawrence's look and I think her fall at the stairs was staged, but she did look elegant.

  THE RED ROSES
Gorgeous  Olivia Munn wore a dress which I didn't really understand but it did look amazing from the back. Jennifer Aniston's gown
was maybe a bit too big for her, but Sally Field looked  fresh in her red dress with long train.

  TOO MUCH COLOUR
I didn't like the ladies who put too much colour on them - Fan Bingbing was overly pink, Resee Witherspoon too blue, and Jane Fonda was too yellow, but kinda elegant.

  THE WORST DRESSED
Well, beside Salma Hayek whom we remember from earlier years as sexy and lovely but she disappointed this year, the rest of the ladies among the worst dressed almost always lack style:Anne   Hathaway looked pale and neglected in that satin apron, Nicole Kidman was too kitschy as usually, while Helena Bonham Carter probably wanted to be on this list in the first place!

  THE HANDSOME BOYS
All our boys looked handsome and dashing last night - from always seductive Hugh Jackman, to sexy Channing Tatum, magnetic
Chris Pine and charismatic Eddie Redmayne whose shoes I didn't quite understand.

  1. Oh good...now I feel like I watched (because it was Walking Dead/Shameless night and NOTHING was dragging me away from all of that!). I have got to say, I agree with you across the board! And it made me smile that Jessica Chastain was omitted from your list. I thought she looked beautiful last night, but she still has much work to do to make up for that Golden Globes debacle!! And Miss Chenoweth is a Broadway actress that has been popping up in various TV shows and movies (she was Glinda in Wicked). I personally love the hell out of her. Its amazing to hear that great big voice come out of that tiny little body!!

As I said, I didn't see much of the show, but I did get to see Ben Affleck's speech when Argo won Best Picture. When he got choked up, I got choked up! I've seen some bits and pieces of Seth MacFarlane's job hosting, and from what I've seen he did just fine. Way better than last year - that's for sure!! There are those out there that are just going to have to accept the fact that Billy Crystal doesn't want to do it every year!!

    1. You know that I always try to avoid Chastain and Balle Harry, can't stand the two of them...

Oooh, THE WALKING DEAD airs tonight here :) I'm afraid for Ricks and the group now that the crazy governor is unleashed :(

I've watched about an hour at the beginning and then fell asleep since it is 2,30 in the morning when Oscars air, but Seth was refreshing and cute, but maybe overly rude at some points.

  2. HI, Dez,

Nice recap.... Kristin Chenoweth was Glenda in the original broadway mega hit WICKED. She has also appeared in several ROM/COM movies... the Twelve Men of Christmas... I think that was the title from a few years back.

CHARLIZ was my absolute favorite. SHe looked BEYOND! Elegant and sophisticated. Although I do think you were a bit hard on Anne H. Pale perhaps, but her makeup was strong enough to carry the pale dress. I would've rethought the jewelry though .... no necklace and much larger earrings.

    1. Hey, Mikey, missed ya!
Nya, you didn't change my mind on Anne :P You can't put a badly tailored piece of sateen on your bony body and expect to look glamorous and lovely especially when you know you will be on stage getting an Oscar :)

  3. Anne's nipples got their own Twitter account from that dress. WHOO HOO!!!!

    1. really, me is not surprised at all :) After her vagina last year, it's no surprise she is now revealing her boobs :)

  4. I agree with your take. Helena Bonham Carter looks horrible and I think she knows it.

    1. yep, knows it and loves it :) I think she enjoys being weird and that is probably the part of her charm and why she seduced Tim Burton LOL

  5. Kristin Chenowith is a Broadway singer best known for her role in the show "Wicked." I didn't much care for Seth MacFarlane. I thought his jokes weren't funny. I did like seeing the handsome men though. Daniel Radcliffe, JGL, and many more all dressed in tuxedos. Wow...what it would be like to hobknob in that crowd. I'd be horny as hell all night.

  6. Awh, fun!!

My take: Redmayne was the best of the men! (loved the dull shoes and the simple closer) I loved Anne Hathaways dress! Indeed, nipple fest and all, true. But, I loved that it was Prada, (how fitting) and that it was pink. The back was dynamic! Sally Field should have gone with black and more slenderizing (since she got her weigh off after LINCOLN). I also like Nicole Kidman's. I thought J. Aniston was wrong. Her hair is tremendously beautiful but she either needed to wear a more casual dress or dress up her hair in an up-do!

There, that is my expertise if any one cares. hahahahaha. Joan Rivers: give me a call!

    1. agreed on Redmayne, we do adore him and have been adoring him for years now :)
Yep, Aniston did look a bit too toned down for her usual style...

  7. hahahahaha Dezmond! You are too funny. I know I am top heavy. Man, I have been blogging for 10 months and finally in January I have been more consistently posting pics of me and now I get a 'pointer'? hahahahaha. You should have seen me a year ago. I looked like an inverted iceberg!

    1. hey, I didn't say that, Renae! I just think that such tailoring would look lovely on you, nice bows or dresses cut in that way below the chest.

      Delete
    2. Oh you are cool Dezmond! I am so pleased with your attention to my blog! I seriously have been considering wearing a belt over a tunic top I have. I did a 'shoot' last week and the top looked gastly (therefore didn't post it). So stay tuned and we shall see if I wear the belt in 'good fashion' or not. hahahahaha.

    3. yep, blouses and tunics tied below the chest and dark jeans with long legs which slowly widen at the bottom would also look lovely on you. They elongate human body and dark colour shapes the hips better. I wear dark jeans only LOL

  8. Catherine Zeta Jones's dress was my favorite. I saw a photo of it up close and it was so gorgeous. Poor Helena Bonham Carter. She is such a mess, but I love her. :))

I didn't watch, but the guy who hosted is not getting very positive press here. Sounds like it was the usual immature jokes that no one laughs at.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think Catherine should wear gowns which are cut differently at cleavage because this cut makes her wider in waste, but she did look so sweet and happy, and I was happy to see her happy :)
Yep, Seth had a lot of teen jokes and wasn't posh and refined at all, but that's America and American humour I guess....

      Delete
    2. No, it isn't America or American humor, it's immature, stupid, Neanderthal man humor.

    3. or the immature MTV humour aimed at young adult audience which has become the main focus and target in consumers society putting them in the centre of the public opinion instead the educated middle class which has principles and rules and is not irresponsible and reckless like the young age is.

  9. I was happily ooohing and aaahing away until I came upon those horrid brightly coloured dresses. Jaysus, put my eyes out. And Helena, she should just wear a rubbish bag and get it over with.

So many gorgeous ones though. I do agree with you on Lilly's dress-that's a show stopper. Catherine does look good and the colour on that is divine. My other favourite is Zoe Saldana. The way it is cut for her is perfect, the bodice-just wonderful and that colour along the bottom really kicks it up a notch.

I won't be replying to comments today as we may be needing to take the Hubby into hospital by ambulance later. Not doing too well right at the moment.

    1. I wonder what goes in their minds when a stylist brings them those extreme coloured dresses and they say - THAT'S THE ONE :)

Lily is becoming my sweetheart :) I love her so, she has such amazing style. I've been following what she wears at events and she is always an example of true elven beauty! I will post two pics of her at Facebook later today to show how divine she is. I think her dresses are woven in Rivendale!

Oooh, what! What is wrong? Hell, I hate bad news! I will be praying for him and you, Anne!

    2. He's doing better right now. He was having a hard time walking today and was in constant spasms. It's a bit better now. We think he may have just spent too much time sitting upright in his chair over the past few days. We'll see if he's better tomorrow and go from there.

    3. glad to hear he's better, Annzie, I was quite worried. Can he walk regularly or just bit by bit?
I hope he will be better today as well, I will be sending my positive energy over the ocean!

  10. Great little wrap. I knew you were in UK, but hoped you'd be up for the red carpet. Wasn't sure of the time difference. Read my tweets from last night...I was having a ball.

I don't think Anne was showing nipple...I think it was the cut of the dress with the pleat coming to a badly placed point. Or...the sateen apron (LOVED that remark) was cold on her skin.

Thanks for clarifying...I thought they were calling her Jessica Shatstain.

I adore Helena B.C. I love the bohemian, don't give a f... care attitude, and she's definitely not into all that glamour and posing for the camera. Just something she has to put up with. Love that. Do your own thing, HBC.

Jennifer A. looked dumpy, in my opinion.

    Thanks, Dez.

    1. who says me is in UK? :) I'm in Central Europe which is around 6 to 8 hours ahead of you in USA.

Anne's dress did look like an apron, I thought she would whip up a cake on stage or something.

We do love Helena for being crazily herself :)

  11. I agree that Lily's blue dress is stunning, and I thought Catherine Zeta's dress was gorgeous, too. Didn't like the whites (Anne has a great figure and that dress did nothing for her, imo), the reds (Sally, Sally! What were you thinking?!), or the bright colors (ugh).

And I'm so glad Zero Dark Thirty did NOT win.

And I see also that Michael Douglas and Jane Fonda were dredged up to show off their latest plastic surgery!

    1. Don't I always? :PPP

Michael had surgery again? I hear some lady stopped him and De Niro at Vegas while they were shooting their film there and they thought she wanted autographs, but she just wanted to give them senior citizen invitations to some programme there for old people LOL

    2. 'tis true, I ain't joking :) They're shooting LAST VEGAS there with Morgan Freeman too :)

  14. Oh, the men were so dashing! Where was the jewels, the glam?! Ok, there was a bit, but still...
I loved Naomi Watts dress-risky and fun! :D
Chatty Cathy looked great too-oops, I meant Kristin Chenoweth, lol. She does have a huge beautiful voice!
I thought Seth made it fun, but he looked like Peter Brady...didn't he?! ;D

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No idea who Peter Brady is, Ella :)
Yep, there wasn't much blingbling at the red carpet, but maybe that's good, it is a worldwide financial crises, so it is better that it was all a bit toned down.

  15. What gorgeous dresses...well, except the bad ones. I missed the show but enjoy these fashion recaps.

  16. See, I don't need to watch, I have you, my Dezzy! =)

I was watching The Walking Dead and The Talking Dead (a great show afterwards).

You did a great recap of the beautiful gowns and handsome hunks. Jennifer Aniston is such a beautiful woman. She can wear anything and make it rock. I adore her.

  17. Just popped in to say hello. I admit to not knowing this show was on. But even if I did know, plus had TV, it's rather likely I'd have had my head in the oven working hard on my bakes, rather than watch.

Now, if there's a Best Bake Awards show, I'm there. No fancy makeup and dresses, just hard working bakers, and their ever nummy bakes.

    I'd watch that, for sure.
