1ST ELVEN PIC OF LILY EVANGELINE AS TAURIEL IN "THE HOBBIT"! "IDENTITY THIEF" POSTERS WITH MELISSA MCCARTHY & JASON BATEMAN! DWAYNE JOHNSON TAMING MYTHICAL BEASTS IN "LORE"

The posters of the day are two pieces that Universal Pictures has released today for their hilarious comedy IDENTITY THIEF which is being helmed by Seth Gordon, the director of last year's successful comedy HORRIBLE BOSSES. As you can see the film has Jason Bateman and delightful Melissa McCarthy in the lead roles of a businessman and a woman who stole his identity. Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (Melissa McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There's only one glitch: The ID she's using to finance these sprees reads "Sandy Bigelow
Patterson" ... and it belongs to an accounts rep (Jason Bateman ) who lives halfway across the U.S. With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back. The cast of the hilarious comedy which is ready to hit cinemas February 2013 also includes John Cho, Amanda Peet and Jon Favreau.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Now, this is certainly a scorching hot piece of news: after we've seen the first mindblowing look of Lee Pace as Elven king Thranduil in THE HOBBIT saga, now a box for the toy line connected with the film has revealed the sneaky peek into Lily Evangeline's Elven archer Tauriel. The character has been put into the story since the book doesn't have enough female heroes.
Deadline reports today that Barry Sonnenfeld will helm LORE which already has Dwayne Johnson in the lead role. The movie
adaptation of a fantasy graphic novel is set in a world where a secret society of Shepherds guard against mythical creatures told in folklore that actually exist. When the chain of command is broken, a young hero must do whatever it takes to stop these beasts! And after yesterday's rumours that Steven Spielberg wants Anne Hathaway and Chris Hemsworth in his sf epic ROBOPOCALYPSE, a new addition to the cast might be Ben Whishaw who might play a powerful computer hacker in the film.

PRICE CHECK TRAILER
Continuing the week of indie films trailers, I have for you today a trailer for comedy drama PRICE CHECK which actually has a rather inspiring story: always delightful Eric Mabius (UGLY BETTY) plays  Pete Cozy who is having trouble resolving a happy marriage and family life with rising debt and a job he hates. When his new boss, Susan (Parker Posey), a human dynamo, shows up, Pete is pulled into the maelstrom that is her life and made to work harder than he ever has before. Suddenly, money and opportunities come his way, but at what price? The film, which also has
Cheyenne Jackson in the cast, premiered at Sundance Festival and will hit cinemas sometime later this year.

I just wish they would give us the official photo shoots of all THE HOBBIT cast, not make us steal pics from all over the place :(

  10. Dezmond, I will not make another sterile comment about The Hobbit!
    I can't change the world!
I just hope that we all have fun with the movie (at least, our children will have!) and that many spectators will read the book after, even there's not a lot of women in it...

    1. no worries, dear Samwise, I know that you love the book and that you want to see it brought over to the big screen in a faithful way. But the problem is that movie industry is very expensive and the producers have to modify the written material to fit the demands of moviegoers. It's always like that.
The good thing is that millions of kids and young people will probably want to read the book after they see the film.

    2. ... and millions of kids and young people will not recognize what they have seen !
The Hobbit (like the LoTR) is not an easy book ! it requires a great courage and cultural knowledges to understand all !
It's not a book for children of our times.(that's why a lot of adults are fans!)
Honesty, I've seen some "bad" things about the movie, and I stop yet to read or search new informations about it because I scare of the result!

    3. hope you will manage to watch the film in the end, Samwise :P

  11. I have to admit that I'm upset about the addition of characters to The Hobbit. It's an insult to Tolkien, a respected and great writer to bow to modern social pressures and challenge the integrity of this great work. That said, I can't wait for the film. It's going to be good and probably the best movie of the year.

I'm so glad to see Ben Wishaw working. He's a fine young actor with a great career in front of him.

Price Check looks good as it deals with the dilemma that faces modern man. How much does one sacrifice for upward mobility.

    1. I hope that it will be a good movie, but I'm so surprised each time I read a new about it that I think that I must stop and wait !
Change story for the audience is not honest for the author, that's sure but I think that all is approved by the inheritors....
      strange times...

    2. @Annzie
you don't mind that it has almost no female characters? They even wanted to put in a character of Itharil who would be played by Saoirse Ronan, but I don't know what happened with that in the end.

    3. @Samwise
yep, Peter Jackson has a deal with Tolkien's kids and family. If I remember correctly Tolkien's son even finished one of his unfinished materials or something...

    4. 1-not female character? what's the problem? it's not an law-obligation !
The book is old, from an ancient period... that's our culture! Do you imagine to change the History because in some periods or events, female were absent ?
2-yes ! and Herbert's son has finished the Dune Saga: a catastrophic effort !

    5. I loved DUNE as a kid, but I think I read only the first three parts. Didn't know it had later sequels by his son. Wish someone would make a new film out of DUNE, I hated the recent mini series based on it :(

  12. Parker Posey is one of my favorite actresses. I loved her in House of Yes.

  13. Wow I had no idea Evangeline was in The Hobbit! Was her character really not even in the book??? I read it so long ago, I don't remember.

And I love Jason Bateman! What's the scoop on Arrested Development?? I need that movie ASAP!

    1. she's in it :) Not a big role, though, she plays an Elven archer or a guard, which doesn't exist in the book.

  14. lol, I had to laugh that a female character had to be added into the Hobbit--just to meet a quota.

    1. yep, he even brought Galadriel back, because the film just wouldn't be it without our Elven queen (bows immediately buzzing with his Elven wings :)

    2. I can see a few Hobbit die-hards getting upset at the changes to the story in the film ;)

    3. That's right ! but we, Hobbits, can have a great "self-control" !
(and usually don't like adventures ....)

    4. yep, the Hobbits like resting their big feet in the sun in their Shire :)

  17. Hmmm...I still have doubt about Tauriel. Sorry Dezz, I just can't accept non-existence-character (in the book I love so much) so easy. Will see it later.

    1. Tauriel, as far as I know, has an extremely short part in the film, probably like Eomer had in LOTR.
