SARAH BOLGER IS SLEEPING BEAUTY, JAMIE CHUNG MULAN IN "ONCE UPON A TIME"! NEW POSTER FOR "PACIFIC RIM" SF EPIC! KEVIN DURAND IS VILLAIN IN "THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS"

We shall start today's fantasy Monday with an update on one of currently most popular TV shows around the world ABC's ONCE UPON A TIME. I've recently told you that the new, second season will have a number of new fairy tale characters and now we have the first casting choices for some of the new princesses: sensational Irish beauty Sarah Bolger (princess Mary from THE TUDORS) has been cast as princess Aurora, or the Sleeping Beauty in the recurring role. As you might remember, Sarah was supposed to star in another show LOCKE AND KEY last season alongside  LOTR's Miranda Otto and pop star Jesse McCartney
but the pilot didn't evolve into a show. Another new face in ONCE UPON A TIME will be gorgeous Jamie Chung from SUCKER PUNCH, who will play legendary female warrior, the Chinese fighter Mulan, a young woman who, according to the legend, takes her elderly father’s place in the army and becomes a great rider, archer and fighter. It will be interesting to see how will the two new characters be incorporated into the second season story, which was announced as being different from the opening season, and whether we shall also see Maleficent in the cast?
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Yesterday, I've shown you a wonderful THE HOBBIT Comic Con poster, and now here's an equally lovely Comic Con poster for Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM sf epic which will hit cinemas in July 2013. The posters shows two soldiers standing on the shoulder of a huge Jaeger robot which is used by humans to battle strange aliens who are suddenly attacking Earth from all directions in order to destroy it. The soldiers actually move and control these huge Jaeger robots from the inside. The cast of the film includes Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman and Rinko Kikuchi.

MORTAL INSTRUMENTS
Continuing with fantasy news today, after our glorious epic updates weekend, I have some casting news for you on the movie adaptation of bestselling fantasy novel saga. According to THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS.
"Variety", one of the busiest supporting actors Kevin Durand (X MEN, REAL STEEL, ROBIN HOOD, I AM NUMBER FOUR, LOST, RESIDENT EVIL, LEGION) will play a member of the villainous duo Pangborn and Blackwell along with Robert Maillet (300, IMMORTALS, SHERLOCK HOLMES). The film is an adaptation of Cassandra Clare's fantasy series about Clary Fray (Lily Collins), a young woman living in New York City, who learns that she is a descendant of the Shadowhunters, a group of warriors who protect the earth from demons. I personally can't accept the fact that truly horrid Jamie Campbel Bower will play the lead male role, since we remember his utter absence of acting talent from CAMELOT, which he single-handedly ruined with his wimpy and highly immature portrayal of king Arthur.

  1. Sarah Bolger is such a perfect, delicate beauty. I envy her that skin and that hair.

I'm not into Pacific Rim. Unless there's some moral to the story that I'm missing here, I don't intend to see it.

I remember seeing Jamie in Camelot and honestly the first thing I thought was "Why did they pick such a homely young man for this role." Shallow I know, but he also stunk the place up like you noted.

    1. and she's also a rather nice actress, got a number of awards for her role in TUDORS. She's Irish :)

Yep, him, Fiennes and Eva Green were abominable and psychotic in that horrid little show.

    2. I had her on my Women of Ireland and the women love her as much as the men do.

I watched that on Netflix and was so disappointed. I love the Arthurian Legends and this was way off the mark.

    3. yep, I remember not liking the pic you've chosen of her back then :PPP

  3. Here is where Anne and I disagree in our tastes in movies...Pacific Rim looks interesting to me. I love that futuristic stuff! I don't hold much hope that there will be a moral though - there rarely are for films such as these. =(

    1. I'm probably the only one who isn't interested in it. Sometimes I do like science fiction and action and adventure. I tend to favor fantasy films more though. Magic and all that silly stuff is more of what I'm into. We just had Hobbit Trailers and I can't stoop thinking about them.

    2. I like me a good sf too, although I do agree with Annzie that magic and fantasy, without too much modern army garbage, is what I prefer.

  4. Pacific Rim is a must see, robots and aliens, what's not to like!

  5. Durand is like everywhere, he's been in tons of shows. Still can't top Glenn Morshower though, that guy's been everywhere.

And soon they are going to have to rename Once Upon A Time the Disney Princess show haha

    1. and yet, most people don't know his name :( Such a cool guy.
      Lol, 'tis true :)

    2. I had to Google both of these guys. I like that Morshower guy. I did learn that Durand is a Canadian and so is Maillet. Can we forgive Canada for producing this feline offender yet. Surely the whole country can't be held to account for the horror of his existence. The rest of the country seems so very lovely and the people wonderfully nice.

    3. well, they did give us Celine Dion, Shania Twain and that eye candy Daniel Powter, so we can at least turn a blind eye on them, but we can't possibly forgive them.... no...no.... Unless the cat swears fealty to us and becomes our vassal!

    4. Yeah I know a ton, as I watch a ton haha pfft celine dion, anyone to give the world her should be ashamed.

    5. Cat I heard that Celine feeds you herring from her very own fingertips and that you lick your whiskers twice after eating it.

    6. Well you heard wrong. For the viking woman would scare her away, after some horrid long winded song that cat would have to stab her. Plus for real us NS already chased her away hahahaha

    7. shame on you, cat! Celine is the queen of the world, you can only dream of purring under her windows!

  7. I really should catch up on Once Upon A Time. That Sarah Bolger is indeed beautiful, she could've played Aurora in that Maleficent movie, too.

  8. Mulan???? Eep!!! I get so excited when I hear about Once Upon a Time news!! How much longer do we need to wait until we can indulge in our fairy tale show again?? I'm getting a craving for it. ;) lol

  9. I can't wait for a new season of Once Upon A Time. Love Sarah, but Jamie will be bit hard to believe as a warrior. She was awful in Sucker Punch, though she was the best of that bunch. They should have perhaps cast Devin Aoki. Ah well... we'll just have to wait and see.

Pacific Rim looks awesome. Can't wait to see it. :)

  11. Words cannot express how psyched I am for Pacific Rim.

  12. Sarah looks lovely. Once upon a time and Grimm are too much for me. It is watered down 100th sequel of some lame ass movie. Cant they think of someone different and original why to butcher a classic tale? As if they are on quest to make people hate the very favorite tales which nourishedd their childhood life.

    1. yep, Hollywood has a sick tendency of making fairy tales morbid and dark. ONCE UPON A TIME does it nice, since they inspire creativity, but GRIMM does make them overly dark and sick.

    1. she was the best of the best! Wish she got an epic role instead of that slutty Anne Boleyn who is in GAME OF THRONES now :(

      Delete
    2. True, but I think she did a much better job in the "proper lady" role of Mary. Also, since she's only just now 21, I imagine there were other (underage) issues to her being in a role like Anne Boleyn.

    3. no, Joshy, I meant I wish she was in GAME OF THRONES instead of the other actress.... or I wish I got that GAME OF THRONES role since I do love me Renly Baratheon :)))

    4. Oh yeah...that, too.

  14. This took me awhile to get through, as I kept going back up to Jamie Chung. Dang.

Pacific Rim looks like a promising alien invasion movie for next summer.

    1. visually yes, but I can't stand the guy for his absence of moral principles. Killing a kid in a movie? Not acceptable! Especially not explicitly. I despise the immoral likes of him.
