SPECTATULAR PICTURES FROM TARSEM'S "SNOW WHITE"! LOVELY TRAILER FOR "MY WEEK WITH MARILYN" WITH MICHELLE WILLIAMS, EDDIE REDMAYNE, JUDI DENCH, KENNETH BRANAGH! PAUL WALKER IN "HOURS"

The main treat of the day are magnificent new pictures released today around the net for one of next year's biggest blockbusters
SNOW WHITE which premieres next March directed by visual genious Tarsem Singh (the helmer of visually mesmerizing films THE CELL and THE FALL). As you can see from the pictures the film will have surreal and extremely imaginative and vivid sets, costumes and visuals. The images reveal Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as Prince, Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and Nathan Lane as queen's timid servant.  The story will follow an evil queen and an exiled princess who struggle for control of their kingdom in a spirited adventure
comedy, filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal, that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over. Unlike the rival project SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, which will be released a few months after this one and will go for gritty and dark
action, Tarsem's SNOW WHITE will go for the vivid and picturesque visuals and charming humor. Click on the pictures to see them full size. And click to read the full spotlight on the film.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Deadline reports that Paul Walker has signed on to star in HOURS,  as a father trying to keep his newborn daughter alive in a New Orleans hospital
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. According to "Variety", TWILIGHT producers are making a strange film IN THE FLESH, which will center on a spirit who has been dead for 130 years and still has not found a way to move on. After meeting another ghost, they discover how to inhabit a mortal body whose spirit has died. Lovely Octavia Spencer, who stole the show this summer in THE HELP, will join Diablo Cody's LAMB OF GOD, as a card dealer in a Vegas casino in which the lead character comes when she loses her faith after a plane crash and then finds her true self.

Here it is, the trailer for one of the films we've been waiting for a long time now - MY WEEK WITH MARILYN which premieres November 4th. It's set in the early summer of 1956, when young Colin Clark (amazing Eddie Redmayne), just down from Oxford
and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set of "The Prince and the Showgirl", the film that famously united Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (brilliant Michelle Williams), who was also on honeymoon with her new husband, the playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott). Nearly 40 years on, his diary account "The Prince, the Showgirl and Me" was published, but one week was missing, and this was published some years later as MY WEEK WITH MARILYN. This is the story of that week. When Arthur Miller leaves England, the coast is clear for Colin to introduce Marilyn to some of the pleasures of British life: an idyllic week in which he escorted a Monroe desperate to get away from her retinue of Hollywood hangers-on and the pressures of work. The magnificent cast also includes Judi Dench, Dominic Cooper, Derek Jacobi, Julia Ormond...
PS! HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT HOLLYWOOD SPY HAS CROSSED THE MAGICAL LINE OF 800,000 VISITORS YESTERDAY? HOLLYWOOD SPY LOVES YOU AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!

  1. The costumes are just wildly fantastic. Tarsem's film is going to be another one of his visual feasts for sure. The pics are just gorgeous.

    I really, really want to see My Week With Marilyn. It looks like such a poignant and beautiful film.

  2. imagine how even more fanstastic they will be on film, when they add the special effects and everything. The costumes were done by Oscar winning costume designer Eiko Ishioka who also did groundbreaking and absolutely mindblowing costumes in THE CELL, THE FALL and in IMMORTALS!

    The trailer for MARILYN really was splendid, and isn't the cast just crazily good?

  3. I'll probably watch both movie versions of Snow White. I can see the appeal of each.

    That dress Julia is wearing is crazy. I'll bet it weighs a ton.

  4. I'll probably skip THE HUNTSMAN one since I can't possibly stand Kristen Stewart. Jeepers creepers whenever I hear her name :)

    It's possible she stole the dress from Elizabeth I :) I'm thinking of doing a post on my favourite movie costume designers :) since there are some people I really always love.

  5. Snow White truly looks amazing with those costumes. Gorgeous!! I reckon it would have taken an hour to get into that evil queen dress lol.

  6. I knew you wouldn't watch Kristin Stewart. :P I've actually liked her in a couple of things (never have seen Twilight). And, yes, I was going to say the dress isn't really any crazier than some of the stuff Elizabeth wore.

    A post on costume designers would be fun. :)

  7. The pics of Snow White are cool, but Julia Roberts? Really?

  8. ohwow! just wow wow wow!
    i ADORE those visuals for snowwhite!
    and that yellow cloaky thing, dude! i think i'm going to have to pull out the ole sewing machine and make a really bad, misshapen copy of that (probably in a different color!) for halloween! YAY! (we'll see if there's time!)
    still hate roberts though. she ruins that costume... maybe you could like edit another face over her's. :P

  11. I personally think a darker take on the snow white fairytale to be more interesting to me, but i will probably end up seeing both anyways

  12. Congrats on the massive amount of hits, Dezz! I think I'll go for this version of Snow White rather than the Hunstman. Much less Twilighty :P

  13. Julia Roberts as Snow White-not who I imagined. Congratulations on 800,000 hits. That is quite impressive.

  14. The more I see of the Snow white films, the more I get turned off!!

    Sorry I wasn't over yesterday Dezzy, I was in London. I will be away from my desk a bit in the next few weeks, with London Film Festival in full swing!

  15. Snow White does look visually stunning, the dwarves look especially bad ass.

  16. How many times can they tell the same thing over and over and over again?..haha. I guess I'll give the none twilight wannabe one a shot eventually. Personally I hope theses fairytale ones stop soon, before they scrape the bottom of the barrel and make the little mermaid 3 into a film..haha

  17. @Lyndy
    possibly even half a day :) Imagine peeing in that dress :))

    @Luanne
    yep, you know I hate everything that girl stands for, can't stand her personality, her acting, her looks, her boyfriend .... To me, she represents empty and shallow Britney Spears generation of spoiled talentless brats :)

    @Libyy
    yep, I don't know what was Tarsem thinking when casting Julia ... except that she really is evil ... :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Vics
    ooh, sister, make me a cloak too! I've always wanted to have a hooded cape :) Moss green, please :) Although I do like the yellow one from the film too!
    Yep, casting Roberts was Tarsem worse casting ever, he usually doesn't make mistakes like that :( But she is evil privately too, isn't she?
    A post on some of the costume designers would require a lot of effort, hours and photographic resources... so I can't promise anything, but I do fancy the idea :)

    @Melsy
    it's weird when a spy is being spied on by so many lurkers :)

  19. @Dirty
    yep, I know you orcs are into dark things :P Horrors for you, and fairy tales for us elves :)

    @Jamie
    thanks, and a good choice!

    @Melissa
    thanks, Melissa. Here at HOLLYWOOD SPY we are not fans of Roberts either. I hope she won't ruin the film. I wish Charlize Theron, who plays Evil Queen, in the rival project, was chosen in this one :(

  20. @Scott
    no worries, Scott! Say hello to Londoners for me! And do us proud at the festival

    @Lurk
    the dwarves are super charming :) If I remember correctly they will have names according to their trademark animals

    @Pat
    actually, I've announced two or three LITTLE MERMAID live action project last spring or winter :)

  21. "My Week with Marilyn" looks fantastic. Michelle Williams is an amazing actress.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm not a fan of that red or blue dress in the SNOW WHITE pictures for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i'm so curious about 'my week with marylin.' i usually love michelle williams... i hope it's another good film for her. it seems like she doesn't quite go there imitation wise.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anything the Twilight Producers touch should be avoided like the plague. D:

  25. I do love Tarsem Singh's work, especially his legendary music videos and adverts, but this new SNOW WHITE seems a bit Tim Burton to me, and not good Tim Burton, bad Tim Burton, ALICE IN WONDERLAND Tim Burton.

    MY WEEK WITH MARILYN looks bland... like, KING'S SPEECH bland. Why can't the UK make its version of A SERBIAN FILM... actually, scrap that last thought.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Debra
    she is probably the best American actress, one of the rare true thespians in US.

    @Josh
    don't forget that these are "raw" pics, they will be enhanced by special effects and everything later on. See how the red dress looks different in the photo session and bellow in the scene from the film?

    @Jefferey
    she is one of the main candidates for Oscars next year with this one. especially since she was supposed to win this year, and was the moral winner, and Academy usually awards someone they robbed the previous year :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. @DWei
    that should be declared as a law!

    @Reilly
    mega fun!

    @Movies
    he had some very creative adds! Don't forget that this one will look later on at the big screen with effects and everything. But this is Tarsem's first film in the blockbuster league, so I hope he won't disappoint. I trust him.
    Films like MARILYN and KING'S SPEECH are actually my favourite kind of dramas :) And SERBIAN FILM is a shame to humanity and everyone here in Serbia is disgusted by it. The director needs professional help.

  28. Holy Nuts Dez! I WANT to see Snow White in such a freaking bad way. Thanks for posting eye candy. I see you liked my eye candy too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. he he yes, with the slight difference that your eye candy can make people seriously sick :PP

  30. ...I just don't like Michelle Williams as Marilyn.. she just doesn't have enough presence for me

    ReplyDelete
  31. Whats with this Roberts being evil thing?

    Did she kill some puppys or something?

    ReplyDelete
  32. she is known in Hollywood circles as a very cold person. And the audience started hating her when she stole a man from a woman who was either pregnant with him or had little babies, I don't remember which one ... She is also extremely cold and unappealing on the screen too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh my goodness, I love all those dresses. I have to admit my favorite part of some movies is the costuming. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow!! look at those dresses!!amazing!! I think Julia will do great as evil queen, she kinda has this evil look sometimes

    ReplyDelete
  35. First of all, congrats on the 800,000!

    Next, I can't believe what a great evil queen Julia Robert makes.

    And that Monroe Film looks brilliant!
