OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR "IMMORTALS"! SCHWARZENEGGER IS BACK AS "TERMINATOR"! FOX PREPARING "ZORRO REBORN"! ANTJE TRAUE IS FAORA IN "MAN OF STEEL". PAUL WALKER IN "VEHICLE19"

Now, I know that most of you like the romantic and adventurous ZORRO saga which starred Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones. It seems that Fox is preparing a reboot of the famous story about famous masked crusader. But here's the interesting
and, I will say, cool catch -  ZORRO REBORN will be set in some non-specific time in an apocalyptic wasteland and it will not have all of the famous traditional characteristics of Zorro. And although he will again fight against evil, he will be driven by vengeance instead of justice. The film will be a directorial debut of Rpin Suwannath who worked previously on X-MEN, CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, MR. AND MRS. SMITH ...

SHORT HEADLINES *What is it with the trend of popular actors in mediocre action films in Hollywood lately? Paul Walker will take the lead in VEHICLE 19,  as an American conman who finds himself in South Africa, where he must transport a
hostage who is set to testify against the corrupt South African police force. *It's official, Arnold Schwarzenegger will return as TERMINATOR in the new sequel to be directed by Justin Lin. The film will go into production as soon as possible before the rights go back to James Cameron in 2018.  *New stars who will lend their voices in ICE AGE4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT include Jennifer Lopez (as a sabre toothed tigress who melts the heart of Diego), Jeremy Renner (as Gutt, a self-styled master of the high seas), Wanda Sykes and Drake.*Unknown German actress Antje Traue has been cast to play female villain Faora in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL. She joins Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Superman's parents.

Yesterday I showed you the sneak peek into the brand new trailer for Tarsem Singh's epic IMMORTALS, and now here's the whole official trailer in all its beauty. As Tarsem promised the whole film looks like a huge painting and watching it you can recognise his marvelous visual style which we were able to see earlier in his ground breaking films THE CELL and THE FALL, and also in the LOSING MY RELIGION video he did for REM. I'm amazed and stunned by the video, as I knew I would be ... It seems that with each scene IMMORTALS reminds us of one important, almost forgotten thing in Hollywood, that films are made of ... dreams. This movie will be larger than life. Starring Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans and Michael Rourke it comes out this November.

  1. Paul Walker may have a nice body, but he is a very wooden actor....and I might say the same thing about Arnie, actually....and isn't it time to give the Terminator franchise a rest..? And as for the Zorro reboot...*sign* it was bound to happen I suppose...

  2. Arnie yes, but I don't really mind Walker's woodeness :) he has other qualities :)
    I'm kinda excited about the ZORRO reboot :) it sounds quite my style with the unspecific setting and time of a classic story.

  3. Does it really matter what Paul Walker is in? He could just stand there like that for two hours and not say a word, and that would be fine. :)

    A post-apocalyptic Zorro could be interesting. Or not. Have to see how they do it.

  4. that's my point exactly, Luanne on Walker :)
    ZORRO will be great, especially if they indulge us with the cast :)

  5. I don't mind the continuation of Terminator, but isn't Arnie getting a bit old?

  6. Awesome news on Schwarzenegger. Granted, he's an old man now, but in Action-Arnold, I Trust. It's too early to speculate on what his role will be, but I'm sure it will be substantive.

    And I feel your awesome enthusiasm for Immortals. It's going to be one grand epic!

    a bit? :)

    @Matty
    yes, it's not sure whether Arnold will play Terminator or some other character in the story. But they want to make two movies before 2018 when rights return to Cameron.

  8. Ooo. Immortals looks great. So does Henry. :D

    Well, Arnold doesn't have the governator gig anymore. So he's free to be an action hero again.

  9. I didn't know a remake of Zorro was in the wind. Excellent news. Maybe the great actors are getting the only material on offer ATM. I would have thought Arnie would be exhausted and have a lot of muscle wastage after his stint in politics...

  11. The Arnie thing is like a late April Fool joke, right?
    A Zorro of vengeance? Why screw with a perfectly good fantasy?

  12. ...on the subject of the Zorro reboot. All i have to say is WHY HOLLYWOOD WHY. If they are going to change it up that drastically, why not just make a whole new franchise. I just don't get it.

  13. Lots of good stuff here - Immortals' trailer is cool!

  14. NO NO NO...Zorro is a character from a period in history when Spain was in charge of Mexico and the peasants needed a hero to stand with them against their oppressors. Anything else you should just take the Zorro name off of and move on. A very stupid idea.

  15. So they want to erase the cultural aspects of Zorro, essentially what makes him Zorro, and turn him into an Everyman vengeance seeker in a nameless post-apocalyptic world. Good luck with that, Fox.

    This trailer makes me salivate for the Immortals even more. Singh has definitely raised the bar very high. Unfortunately, Vehicle 19 sounds like a watered down version of a Jason Statham flick. Where has the originality in Hollywood gone? ;)

  16. Hi DEZ,

    Well, those headlines just jumped out at me from my "reading list" and of course the "Terminator" part caught my eye.

    I'm not sure I'm keen on the Govenator jumping into the mix again. Not that I’ll mind though, I still think he’s got what it takes to terminate the enemy.

    But...I was looking forward to Vin Diesel being The Terminator - is he still going to be in it?

    On an earlier post…

    I adore the work of Cate Blanchett. She is stunning and a most talented actress.
    I really enjoyed the photos in your post, but it was your writing that really brought her to life on my screen - a beautifully written post.

    I catch up on my reading, a few posts at a time, I hope you don’t mind if I put it all together on one comment.

    Hollywood Spy is my late night reading material - I’ve tossed the books. Me and my Mac snuggle up and take a spin around Hollywood with your help.

    Cheers, Jenny

  17. I'm surprised that Arnold is willing to get back into film after building his political status. Well, I guess good for him. I hope he still has it.

    isn't IMMORTALS even better than yesterday? And I also though of Statham :) now wouldn't he and Walker make a lovely couple? :))

    @Jenny
    there's still not enough info on whether Vin will appear in TERMINATOR or not, it could be nice seeing the two of them together in a film. And glad you liked my post on Blanchett, she's my favourite :) Always nice having you here ;)

    @Nicole
    isn't IMMORTALS just amazing? :)

    well, it looks like it was made from dreams, doesn't it? :)) I mean each scene is like a small dreamy vision weaved from the stuff dreams are made of :)

  27. Wow, what a stunning trailer. I love it when directors freeze things mid-air. I have no idea what they call it, but stunning nonetheless.

  30. Zorro Reborn sounds a little like Mad Max. Could be a promising action flick.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Walker and Statham, oh yes, oh yes. ;))

    ReplyDelete
  32. Interesting twist for Zorro Reborn. Maybe something good will come of it. :) Still to early to tell.

    Immortals looks exciting. Film itself looks more like story told in a series of paintings, or maybe a play in theatre.
    I'm not a fan of artificial/CGI backgrounds when they look so... ...artificial. :) I always have a feeling something's not real in that story, and because of it, I can not connect with it completely.
    Still, I watched 300 and The Warrior's Way, so I can watch Immortals also. It even looks a bit better than those two. Still artificial, but better.
    I'll just concentrate on story, actors, costumes, action, and amazing cinematography.

  33. @Melsy
    he he :)

    @Bels
    ah, I know you like your film to look realistic :) but I'm afraid Tarsem loves his films looking surreal. That's why the film looks like a series of painting and so glorious and magnificent because it looks like a dream.
    Oooh, and have you seen the costumes. Mesmerizing!
