JOHN CENA TO LEAD "TRUE LIES" TV SHOW? A FUTURISTIC 19TH CENTURY IN TERRY GILLIAM'S SF FIM "1884". "THE WEDDING BAND" TV SHOW ON TBS!

Beside NIKITA another action flick is coming to TV in the form of remake: action blockbuster TRUE LIES will be made into a TV show and it seems that famous wrestler John Cena could get the role which Arnold Schwarzeneger played in the movie.
As you remember the original film was about a dangerous government agent with a license to do just about anything, who pretends to be a dull computer salesman at home in front of his wife and family.

Now here's an absolutely unusual film: Terry Gilliam will produce 1884, which will bring a futuristic look of history in which year 1884 will have flying cars powered by steam and a man who has landed on the moon. In this tale of imperialistic espionage we shall see a mix of animation
with live-action puppetry and CGI. The background imagery will be a blend of period photography, miniatures and graphics.

Following the new trend of musical TV shows, TBS is preparing a pilot of THE WEDDING BAND a comedy that follows a group of guys who try to escape the stress and craziness of their lives by performing in a wedding band. Anchored by lifelong best friends - one a perennial bachelor (Brian Austin Green) and the other a married father of two (Harold Perrineau) - the band will stop at nothing to make every wedding, birthday or bar mitzvah a concert to remember.

  1. It seem that pity little goat was crushed by that giant man :) Previously there were talks about big screen sequel now how can it be a TV show?

  2. John Cena? I mean sure, his muscles are great, but his acting is sort of... well, did you see The Marine? Yeesh.

    I almost died when I saw that pic of Cena :) I soooo need me some little goat pet instead of my lazy cat :) It will be a TV show, Jaccsy.

    @Stephanie
    ah, Steph, when someone has an ego big as his muscles, he doesn't really care about his acting talents :) I mean Schwartzy himself is the most horrible actor the world has ever seen and look how many films he made in the end.

  7. I loved the movie TRUE LIES so I can't wait to see how they make this one. Didn't a TV show come out that was close to it - with Christian Slater? Oh, what was it called...oh yeah, MY OWN WORST ENEMY. It didn't do well.

    1884 looks fascinating. Love to see how they blend animation and puppetry together.

  8. Love me the Terry Gilliam. 1884 sounds fantastical and I can hardly wait. Cena plays to the same element as Ahnold. They're great for the 10-15 year old they aim these films at because these guys just kick ass and blow stuff up.

  9. Hey Dezz, how ironic that they had a wooden muscle bound actor in the movie and they#ve gone for a wooden muscle bound actor in the series. Or is it just me. Best thing about True Lies was Jamie Lee Curtis's "dance"!

    1984, I can take it or leave it.

    Brian Austin Green?? He's a ringer for Jude Law, no??

    Next James Bond?? I've voted for Gerard Butler, only because his mum lives in the next village to us. He sometimes goes for a pint in the village pub. No, I've not met him. :-)

    Haven't a clue who Richard Armitage is.

  11. Saw the fake trailer for Gilliam's film - very weird, but funny.
    And why on earth would they remake True Lies? What's wrong with the first one? It's not even twenty years old yet!

    it's your type of flick? :)

    @Clarissa
    Christian Slater still works? :)))Haven't noticed him in decades, no wonder the show was a flop.

    @Melissa
    yep, you totally guessed the audience they are aiming at!

  14. DEZMOND - 1884 sounds really cool. Um, the others - the first thing that came to mind in True Lies was the scene with Jaime Lee Curtis - the bedroom scene. She was funny there for that 60 seconds, but that was it.

    but you've surely met Butler mom? :) Armitage isn't that known outside UK, but he has a huge fanbase among ladies.

    @Kristin
    it's the epitome of cuteness :)

    @Alex
    I've no idea, you should file a complaint in Hollywood's remake department :)

    I remember the scene with Jamie Lee but it didn't do anything to me, since I've always found her unbelievably unattractive. I've never understood the success of her and Sigourney Weaver in the 80's.

  17. 1884 sounds like steam punk Monty Python style.

  18. Than you won't be surprised, Lee, that Monty Python actors will give their voices in this film :)

  19. Yeah, love Terry Gilliam -- the guy's 1 of a kind.

    But I love that kid that John's holding! So precious! :)

  20. it is the most adorable pic I've ever seen :)) And I know goats and kid usually stink, but this one is just cuteness times million :)
