ALMOST OFFICIAL: LOGAN LERMAN IS SPIDERMAN

If we can trust the latest reports from "HitFix" young Logan Lerman from "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" has really been offered the title role in the reboot of the popular "Spiderman" franchise. Rumors about this were denied some months ago, but as the sources from "HitFix" say Lerman is “now almost 100% locked but not in contract negotiations for the role yet".Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer”) will direct the new movie, scheduled for summer 2012, which will be a more teen-friendly incarnation of Spiderman, taking Peter Parker back to his early days of balancing girl trouble, homework, and crime fighting. Logan Lerman has apparently beat out some other young stars such as Anton Yelchin and Jesse Eisenberg.

  1. gurggle urggle burggle. Hopefully he brings more emotion than his flat note in Percy Jackson. I like Marc Webb but I'm of the opinion this has sinking ship disaster written all over it.

  2. And it's way too early for a reboot at this point. Unlike Batman, I think this one will work in reverse.

  3. Eh, Alex, for me, reboots have totally ruined the fun in BATMAN turning it into dark, pointless and shapeless mess.

  4. Batman is supposed to be dark, Nolan's interpretation is the closest to the comics. Spider-man's not supposed to be a tweener this is going to completely blow up in Sony's face, maybe then they'll finally get it. One of the reasons Spider-man 3 was a mess was because it was too campy, and throwing an 18 year old into the role is going to camp this series up even more! I just don't see why they think a total revamp of the series is necessary, but I wouldn't be shocked if they go through this, release the film, see how completely stupid they were and then go back to the old formula.

  5. Well, I was never a fan of Spiderman even with Tobey Maguire, so I don't think they will lure me into watching the movie with Logan Lerman.

Nolan's film wasn't just pointlessly morbid and dark, but also a total mess of a film with absolutely no creativity, deadly boring story, visually extremely plain and uninspired, with some very bad acting, I just hate how he ruined a fun franchise making it cold, pessimistic, lifeless and boring.

  6. Well Dez your probably standing alone in a dark corner on that one. Prior to Batman Begins the Batman franchise was truly a pitiful thing to behold. Michael Keaton was a decent Batman but the films were still mediocre, the other two Batman's are simply blasphemous, but I guess if your comparing them to the incredibly corny Adam West Batman they look alright.

I'm not sure I'm alone in my opinion, I know a lot of people who thought the whole buzz around DARK KNIGHT was without foundation and totally ridiculous. The fact that it had a lot of viewers just like TITANIC and AVATAR, doesn't make it a good movie. People know me as someone who watches a movie till the end, even when it is really bad, because I just like to give every film a chance, but DARK KNIGHT is one of the few movies I quit watching after 30 minutes. Then I wanted to give it a second chance, and watched it for another 20 minutes, but couldn't cope with more than that.

  9. Logan Lerman looks way too pretty to play Peter Parker. Peter is suppose to be this nerdy, yet plain guy. Logan really doesn’t even have that “nerdy” look to him.

  10. Oooh Dez, i think you're selling yourself short by not fully watching all of Dark Knight. There's some pleasant surprises in the end that i personally feel sold me on the movie.
But then, i've always been a "batman is supposed to be uber dark" girl and am always a bit let down when i don't see Joker beating teen boys with crowbars.

As for new spider man, i was under the impression that this was supposed to more closely follow the Ultimate Spiderman books, which i absolutely love. Also, i was never a fan of Tobey as Peter Parker so i'm certainly willing to let someone else have a shot at it.

Still, it does seem a bit early for a reboot, but then, i certainly enjoyed the Hulk reboot thing after the first one (i don't even know if that counts as a reboot?)

  11. Falen, I'm not mistaken, DARK KNIGHT is in my TOP 5 worst movies ever list.
Yep, the HULK thing was a reboot (that's when instead of continuing the story of the franchise, you just find a new actor, and a new vision for the same old story)

  12. Yeah, but it referenced the first movie a bit, so i dunno.
I'm not saying your mistaken, you're entitled to your opinion. I don't love it as much as everyone else. But the parts that i do think were the most successful were towards the end and i'd hate to think that you'd miss those moments purely because you didn't give the whole film a chance

    Sorry everyone!
