G.I. JOE WILL BRING US JOY AGAIN! THE SEQUEL IS UNDER WAY

No matter what some haters say about his movies, Stephen Sommers always knew how to strike a chord with the audience with his flawless visual style and highly entertaining direction, so it's no surprise that the latest news says that his summer blockbuster "G.I.Joe:The Rise of Cobra" is now officially getting a sequel. Paramount wants more of the elite commando unit on the big screen so they have hired a writer to invent the new adventures of the G.I. Joe team.
Although it still isn't clear whether Stephen Sommers will return to direct the sequel or not, the main cast members, including Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Marlon Wayans and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, have already signed on for sequels.

  1. This is the most depressing news I've seen this year. I shall now go spend the next few hours mourning.

  3. This film earned around $300 mil worldwide. I don't think that's enough to cover its productions costs, but it certainly will be with DVD, toys and other merchandise. These films almost always earn money, one way or another.

I wasn't too thrilled with The Rise of Cobra. Although it had some great moments. That car chase scene across Paris was magnificent.
I like Sommers's films. They are always entertaining, if nothing else.

  4. Hey it didn't make my worst of the year Dez so I wouldn't consider myself a hater. I just thought it was soooo uncreative it killed me. If they're going to do a sequel I just ask two things:
    1) Emotion. I need more than 1 facial expression from each actor.
    2) Camp. If you're going to go cheesy (as they obviously did) have fun with it. They all seemed to be taking it way too seriously (except for JGL who captured its silliness perfectly I think).

  5. Bels, I'm pretty sure the movie had paid itself without all the merchandise.

I think Channing Tatum might really believe he's emotionless after all the efforts Ryan has put into proving that point :)

  12. And I'll wait for a better sequel cause I believe the script for G.I. Joe 2 is in good hands because Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are the two writers who will be penning the script.
